چکیده

The performance of requirement engineers in the production of Use Cases is analyzed and compared using a collaborative editor in synchronous mode versus one in asynchronous mode, with the objective to learn which mode allows generating better specification documents for specific software. For this purpose some Use Cases were produced under a quasi-experimental approach. There were proposed eleven metrics, used to evaluate the cases generated in both modes, according to some desirable features. The attained results show that the Use Cases asynchronously produced hold a better quality. On the other hand, the synchronouslygenerated Use Cases take less time in their production than the asynchronously-generated ones.

The Effects of Collaborative Versus Non-collaborative Massed and Distributed Presentation on the Comprehension and Production of Lexical Collocations

To investigate the effect of massed and distributed collaborative and non-collaborative presentation on L2 learners’ comprehension and production of lexical collocations, 105 participants at Takestan Islamic Azad University in 4 groups were assigned to four different treatment conditions (collaborative-massed; collaborative-distributed; noncollaborative-massed; and noncollaborative-distributed ...

Investigating Dynamic Writing Assessment in a Web 2.0 Asynchronous Collaborative Computer-Mediated Context

This study aims at investigating the effect of dynamic assessment (DA) on L2 writing achievement if applied via blogging as a Web 2.0 tool, as well as examining which pattern of interaction is more conducive to learning in such an environment. The results of the study indicate that using weblogs to provide mediation contributes to the enhancement of the overall writing performance, vocabulary a...

Integrating Synchronous and Asynchronous Interactions in Groupware Applications

It is common that, in a long-term asynchronous collaborative activity, groups of users engage in occasional synchronous sessions. In this paper, we discuss the data management requirements for supporting this common work practice. As users interact in different ways in each setting, requirements and solutions often need to be different. We present a data management system that allows to integra...

Data Management Problems for Supporting Multi-synchronous Groupware and a Solution

It is common that, in a long-term asynchronous collaborative activity, groups of users engage in occasional synchronous sessions. In this paper, we analyze the data management requirements for supporting this common work practice in typical collaborative activities and applications. This analysis shows that, as users interact in different ways in each setting, some applications have different r...

A Model for Content and Communication Management in Synchronous Learning

Asynchronous web-based learning environments are not usually as interactive or adaptive compared to traditional classrooms. The use of synchronous communication tools may be a solution to recreating the link between students and professors. However, synchronous collaborative learning environments are often restricted to a set of communication tools and they do not offer any strategy to organize...
